PROUD TO BE B CORP
What is B Corp?
Measuring Goodfood’s entire social and environmental impact.
It’s a term that’s used a lot, and it sounds great, but what is it? Let’s get into it. B Corp Certification is a third-party standard that evaluates a company’s overall social and environmental performance. It covers many areas including these:

Unlike traditional corporations that prioritize financial profitability alone, B Corps look at the triple bottom line and use their position to address social and environmental problems.
They’re leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.
What B Corp means at Goodfood
Long before we began our certification journey, we were already working to do better for our people and the planet. Seeing companies we respect and admire, like Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s, thrive within the B Corp community motivated us to seek formal certification. We wanted to be part of this growing network that balances profit with a deeper purpose.
Capitalizing on the great initiatives we’ve made so far, joining the B Corp Network gives us the framework, tools, accountability, and support to accelerate our journey as a catalyst for positive change.
1. Community Impact
We take great pride in cooking with a beautiful selection of whole ingredients sourced locally. Whether you’re a carnivore, vegetarian or vegan, take your pick of wow-worthy wholesome recipes.
We realized early on that delivering fresh, healthy meals isn’t just about convenience—it’s about creating a positive impact on our communities and the planet.
Since 2017, we’ve been working with the Breakfast Club of Canada to help fight food insecurity and feed the potential of thousands of children.
We collaborate with Second Harvest Canada to divert food waste and support households in need.
2. Doing Good-er
Our leadership team had a pivotal discussion about how every choice—from sourcing ingredients to packaging—could align with a higher standard.
Our recyclable delivery boxes are made from 83% recycled fibers, and their optimized size reduces excess materials while making them lighter and easier to carry.
Our recyclable delivery box liners are made from 73% recycled fibers and are completely plastic-free, reducing plastic use by 21 metric tonnes—equal to over 2.4 million plastic grocery bags.
We’ve reduced the number of middlemen which means less plastic packaging and waste.
We’ve partnered with Les Emissions and Bullfrog Power to offset our carbon emissions.

3. Accountability
B Corp’s rigorous assessment gives us a transparent yardstick for progress. It helps ensure every step we take—from building supplier relationships to setting internal policies—meets the highest ethical and environmental benchmarks.
We’ve crafted a solid Goodfood Sustainability Policy and a Local Sourcing Policy is in the works.
We continue to build on our B Corp expertise with collaboration with other certified organizations in the B Corp community and B Lab.
We’re amending our legal articles to comply with certification requirements and gain shareholder approval.
4. Elevating Trust
Being B Corp certified sends a clear signal to our members, employees, and investors that we’re in this for more than just the bottom line. It strengthens confidence in our brand and fosters deeper loyalty.
Moving forward, we must be re-certified every three years, ensuring we maintain and enhance our good practices.
5. Driving Improvement
The certification process revealed areas where we excel and where we can still grow. Now we’re committed to ongoing reflection and evolution, fueling better service, higher-quality products, and reduced environmental impact.
To drive meaningful change, we’ve put together a team with representatives from all departments at Goodfood to champion B Corp values throughout the company. This team will advocate for sustainability, social responsibility, and innovation at every level of our operations.

6. Creating a Culture of Impact
For the Goodfood team, B Corp status unifies our internal culture around shared values. It encourages every employee to take ownership of sustainability, social responsibility, and community engagement.
7. Joining a Movement
By becoming a B Corp, we’ve joined a global movement of businesses redefining success—one that measures impact not just in dollars, but in the well-being of people and the planet. This milestone is both a celebration and a call to action.
Capitalizing on all the great progress we’ve already made, we’re more committed than ever to driving lasting impact for our community and the planet.
